Visiting Grandma Giacopelli (Jack-O-Pelli) was always a happy occasion for the Giacopelli family. Her greetings of love and the aroma of her Sicilian Cooking, according to her family, was "indescribable and unforgettable". Some of her comments that still ring clearly in the family's ears: "Button up your coat before you go out", "Don't make plans for Sunday, What do you mean you're full?...", "This is only the first course.", "Mangia, mangia, mangia...". This is what Grandma Giacopelli believed.

Grandma Giacopelli was born in Palermo, Sicily. She was widely known for her homemade, fresh and
delicious cooking. As like many Italians, in 1920 Grandma & Grandpa Giacopelli made the move to the
United States and settled in the lower east side of New York City.

Grandma Giacopelli's life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grand-
children. Next to family, her passion was cooking great Italian meals using only the finest and freshest
ingredients. Grandma's recipes were passed on to each generation.

In the early 1980's the Giacopelli's  moved to San Diego. They remember when it was extremely difficult
to find good Italian food and different types of Italian products. When relatives (Aunts, uncles,
cousins) would come to visit the Giacopellis, they would be sure to arrive in San Diego with the
finest New York cheeses, the best quality meats and different shaped loaves of Italian bread
that were not available in San Diego. Things are now changing for the better.

Giacopelli's New York Deli is proud to
present some of the finest Italian
delicatessen food, west of Little Italy, New York. Yes... even
Grandma Giacopelli would be proud.
